Roulette is one of the most popular casino games on the planet. It’s incredibly easy to learn how to play but it’s also complex enough to keep it fun and exciting for an entire lifetime.
Like all games you can play here at Wildz, roulette is based on probabilities with each type of bet having different odds.
These odds also vary depending on which variant of the game you play. This is because European and American roulette have a different number of pockets on their wheels.
As we’ve touched on already, there are many different types of bet you can place when playing roulette at Wildz online casino. Each one has different odds which means that they also have a different payout that reflects the chances of your bet winning.
Here are some of the most common Roulette bets and their corresponding payouts.
Inside bets are ones made by placing chips on the inside section of the table. There are several different types of inside bet, each with a separate payout. Here are the most common ones:
Bet Type | How it works | Payout | EU / American odds |
---|---|---|---|
0/00 | Either the 0 or 00 | 35 to 1 | 2.7%, 2,6% |
Straight up | Any single number | 35 to 1 | 2.7%, 2,6% |
Split/Double | Any two numbers | 17 to 1 | 5.4%, 5.3% |
Street | Any three numbers | 11 to 1 | 8.1%, 7.9% |
Corner | Four numbers in a block | 8 to 1 | 10.8%, 10,5% |
In contrast to inside bets, outside bets are those that are placed on the outside parts of the table. They are generally easier to win because they include more numbers in a single wager, but this means they have smaller payouts. Here are the most popular options:
Bet Type | How it works | Payout | EU / American odds |
---|---|---|---|
Color | Red or black pocket | 1 to 1 | 48.65%, 47.37% |
Odd/Even | Odd or even number | 1 to 1 | 48.65%, 47.37% |
High/Low | 1-18 or 19-36 | 1 to 1 | 48.65%, 47.37% |
Column | A column of 12 numbers | 2 to 1 | 32.4%, 31.6% |
Each variant of roulette comes with its own unique set of odds. It’s slightly to win any bet on a European roulette wheel because there is one less pocket than when compared to American roulette.
However, while the odds are different, the payouts actually remain the same. This is why the house edge is higher in American roulette than its European counterpart (more on that in a moment).
This means that, no matter what variant you play, you’ll always get the same payouts.
Players of slots are probably familiar with casino RTP rates which express the theoretical rate that they’ll have returned to them over a long time of playing. In roulette, we express this theoretical calculation slightly differently by referring to it as the house edge.
House edge and RTP both do essentially the same thing, but they are the opposite of each other. House edge tells you how much the casino keeps, on average, while RTP tells you how much you theoretically keep.
There are no ways to improve your odds in roulette as they are fixed. Some players like to use strategies like the Martingale and Fibonacci, but it’s important to remember that these only add structure to your play, they can’t improve your odds.
These are bets placed on the inside section of the table. The most common inside bets are 0/00, straight up, split/double, street or corner.
Unlike inside bets, these are places on the outside parts of the table. The most common outside bets are red/black, odd/even, high/low and column. Outside bets are generally easier to win but have smaller payouts.
The house edge in European Roulette is 2.7%. It's 5.26% in the American version, and in the French one, it can fall to just 1.35% (with even bets).
The best odds in Roulette are outside bets on either even or odd, red or black or numbers 1-18 or 19-36. Each of these bets has a 1:1 payout.
